Resounding success of first live on-air use of Brainstorm’s TeleTransporter virtual traveller feature

TVE, Spain’s state broadcaster, relies on Brainstorm’s patented and award-winning TrackFree technology in order to showcase results of Spanish general elections

Madrid, 6 July – Brainstorm Multimedia, leading manufacturer of real-time 3D graphics and virtual studio solutions, broke new ground together with TVE by using the patented TeleTransporter technology for the first time during general election night on 26th June. TVE, Spain’s national broadcaster, used Brainstorm’s virtual studio application, the Infinity Set, and its TeleTransporter feature to teleport a live presenter from the studio to the floor of the main Congress chamber in order to showcase the election results along with Aston’s Augmented Reality graphics.

TVE also used Brainstorm’s eStudio application for both their Augmented Reality and 2D graphics. In fact, eStudio, Brainstorm’s core render engine with an immensely versatile feature set, has been TVE’s tool of choice for more than fifteen years for the creation of a wide variety of program content.
In addition, private broadcaster 13 TV also chose Brainstorm’s professional services for their graphics and presentation requirements during election night. 13 TV’s special elections program increased the broadcaster’s ranking up two points to 4.1%, raising the TV station position to seventh.
13 TV opted for a Brainstorm turnkey services solution covering all aspects of the election program from voting data reception and management to design and playout of Augmented Reality graphics. Infinity Set, Brainstorm’s virtual studio solution, and Aston, the 3D graphic creation and CG solution, were the main applications used during election night.

May HD Radio be an alternative for Turkey?

There are mainly three worldwide digital radio technologies: DAB/DAB+, DRM30/DRM+ and  HD Radio™ . According to some sector professional Turkey should not even think of  HD Radio™  as an alternative for the digitization of radio. I have some doubts on that. Lets have a closer look at  HD Radio™ : Who is behind the  HD Radio™ ? IBiquity  Digital is the firm that developed the  HD Radio™  technology. Some argues that as it is a firm, not a consortium, so broadcasters should avoid choosing  HD Radio™  as the digital radio technology. It sounds a little bit ambiguous. Why should broadcasters avoid using it? Do they avoid using Windows, for their PCs? Well, it is the same actually. Microsoft is a firm, that has a product, and broadcasters, like many others are using it. So, Ibiquity Digital is a firm like Microsoft. They have an approach to digital radio, with using FM band, they can digitize the r...

Shall we not build DTT, after WRC 2015

According to the news in the web site of EBU, 470 - 694 MHz will be reserved for DTT & radio microphones not only till WRC 2019, but also till WRC 2023. At the WRC 2023, 470 - 960 MHz band will be reconsidered. It is good news for the DTT business in Europe. But is it a good news for Turkey? As you may well know, Turkey has not yet spend any money on DTT. There is no DTT network, nor a finished frequency allocation tender. Hence, we can say that there is nothing, just NOTHING regarding DTT.  So, in best circumstances, the tender for DTT frequencies can be finished by 2016 & the network would be ready by 2017. Well, the picture becomes interesting from that point. The frequency allocation would be for 10 years, which covers 2016-2026. But, during the WRC 2023, the frequency usage will be reconsidered again. It may be more meaningful to think not to build DTT at all, and start thinking to work on xG mobile networks. I would appreciate for your comment...
