Press Release: Xytech Systems Addresses on-the-go Needs of Remote and Remote Media Workforces with Launch of Mobile-Native Media Operations UX

At IBC Show 2023 (Amsterdam. September 15-18) Xytech Systems (#1.C50), the leading provider of end-to-end Media Operations for the world’s premier media and broadcast entities, will mark the next phase in the evolution of its Media Operations Platform™ by launching a new mobile-native interface. The slimmed-down Mobile Operations version captures the most crucial web platform features for use across any smartphone or tablet to empower production crews and creatives to remotely manage people, resources, and assets efficiently. It offers users on-the-go functionalities and remote access to Contacts, Schedule, and Time Cards.

Keith Buckley, Chief Executive Officer, Xytech Systems, said: “I’m excited that we’re the first company in the Media Operations space to pave the way towards mobile-native workflows. Our next-gen UX will prioritize creatives on the go with an easy-to-use application that enables them to review their schedule, process time cards, and perform work order start times. It’s clear that distributed remote productions continue to prevail as the leading workflow requirement for crews and creatives, making our Mobile Operations offering crucial for succeeding in today’s production landscape.”

The next-generation mobile user experience (UX) is built on top of an open-source framework that taps into the latest event-driven JavaScript Runtime environment to split the app into three distinct sections:

  • Contacts – where users can search for any contact by name or job function and sort their profiles alphabetically, as well as add any additional notes, to provide comprehensive data to their workflows
  • Schedule – easy to create activities amongst teams, with specific time frame highlights that allow for more efficient planning and better resource management
  • Time cards – with any request submitted, users can review and approve work order start times in seconds, regardless of location or time

Glenn Adamo, Principal, Ivanhoe Media & Entertainment, recently shared in Xytech’s ‘Legends of Media Operations’ Series: “The need for innovative tools that can enable efficient remote productions intensified during COVID-19. Three years ago, you might produce a college football game for $100,000 a game, today, through newer 5G, cloud, and mobile tools, that cost could go down as much as 30%. The business is shifting, and creatives must understand how these tools work, so they can return to doing what they do best: creating content. I firmly believe that Mobile Operations will play a key part in delivering great experiences for those working in media production today, and I support Xytech’s announcement.”

Through its highly maintained open-source library and widely deployed tech, the app leverages a more dynamic and faster environment that can scale when needed, adding confidence that it can build an enterprise-scale app in the future.

David White, Chief Product Officer, Xytech Systems, said: “This is a monumental step forward for users of our Media Operations platform and the broadcast production industry. Being able to decentralize operations with the simple touch of a button, regardless of location, is something that our customers have continually asked for. The ability to browse, search, review, and comment will surely be welcomed by users who are already accustomed to the web platform version and are looking for ease of use, cost-efficiency, and scalability. I look forward to seeing the early reactions to our demoware on the show floors of IBC in Amsterdam.”

The app also implements mobile-friendly features such as face ID login for quick launch into the dashboard, reminders for key events, support for dynamic changes in platforms to accommodate and fill any screen width while maintaining usability, and real-time notifications alerting users to the latest changes in their workflows. These features ensure that the company remains positioned to manage any end-to-end media operations lifecycle across any environment.

Shall we not build DTT, after WRC 2015

According to the news in the web site of EBU, 470 - 694 MHz will be reserved for DTT & radio microphones not only till WRC 2019, but also till WRC 2023. At the WRC 2023, 470 - 960 MHz band will be reconsidered. It is good news for the DTT business in Europe. But is it a good news for Turkey? As you may well know, Turkey has not yet spend any money on DTT. There is no DTT network, nor a finished frequency allocation tender. Hence, we can say that there is nothing, just NOTHING regarding DTT.  So, in best circumstances, the tender for DTT frequencies can be finished by 2016 & the network would be ready by 2017. Well, the picture becomes interesting from that point. The frequency allocation would be for 10 years, which covers 2016-2026. But, during the WRC 2023, the frequency usage will be reconsidered again. It may be more meaningful to think not to build DTT at all, and start thinking to work on xG mobile networks. I would appreciate for your comment...

Disguise and Cuebric Launch AI-Driven Content Generator for Virtual Production

Disguise  — a world leader in virtual production technology used for  Top Gun: Maverick ,  The Joker  and more — has partnered with AI platform  Cuebric  to make virtual environments faster, easier and more cost-effective to build than ever before.  As part of the partnership, Cuebric has been integrated with the Disguise platform. This means creatives can now use AI to create the shape and depth of 2.5D environments, then import them into Disguise. The result is a plug-and-play scene that can be executed on an LED stage in only two minutes. This allows anyone to tell immersive stories, no matter the production environment or virtual art capabilities they have, saving weeks of pre-production work. “Real-time environments look spectacular on-camera, yet often require many hours of artistic and technical build,” said Addy Ghani, VP of Virtual Production at Disguise. “Thanks to our partnership with Cuebric, there’s now another option. Using generative AI,...
