Press Release: Mux to demonstrate how it scales to more than 30 million concurrent viewers for major streaming events

A showcase of Mux Data will show why it’s the industry-leading platform in enabling the best-possible quality of experience

San Francisco, September 5, 2023
 – Mux, the leading provider of online video infrastructure is excited to announce that it’ll be exhibiting at IBC2023 in Amsterdam from 15-18 September, where it will be giving visitors insight into how they can better scale their workflows for major online streaming events.

Showcasing the Mux platform which comprises Mux Data, Mux Video, and Mux Player, the team onsite will be talking about why so many companies from TF1, Optus and RTBF to PBS, Paramount, Fox and Vimeo rely on Mux’s APIs to build the highest-quality video experiences at scale.

Understanding and monitoring what viewers are experiencing when watching video and pairing that with insights on issues you can address in real time is critical to a successful streaming event. Major broadcasters expect a reliable video monitoring system that delivers actionable real-time insights with very low latency. Key demos on stand (Hall 5, Stand H48) will showcase Mux Data, which delivers streaming analytics and actionable insights with lower latency than any alternative in the industry. Mux’s team of video experts will explain how by deploying Mux Data, customers can solve major streaming issues before the support team is overwhelmed and the user experience is interrupted. This data can help them to improve the overall quality of experience (QoE) for viewers and get end-to-end visibility into their live and on-demand video workflow, no matter the scale of their viewership.

Mux will be on hand to talk to visitors about how it stepped up to monitor one of the largest live streaming events in history earlier this year, which saw more than 30 million concurrent viewers and 17 billion views total, and 7 petabytes of data analyzed throughout 60 events over several weeks.

“Over the last year, Mux has been privileged to monitor video at unprecedented scale for the largest events in the world, across all major sports,” commented Mux CEO and Co-founder, Jon Dahl. “Our customers rely on Mux as a key partner to ensure the success and reliability of their streaming platforms. We’ve shipped dozens of improvements to Mux Data over the last few months that reinforce our key differentiators: offering lower monitoring latency than any other industry alternative, at any scale, with rich dashboards and APIs that surface the most important insights quickly to our users.”

Dahl will be onsite throughout the show, alongside the company's other three founders; Adam Brown, Matt McClure and Steve Heffernan where they’ll be speaking to attendees about their mission to democratize online video by solving the hard problems developers face when building video; namely video encoding and streaming, video monitoring, and more.

A Mux Data integration with AWS will also be exhibited at the show by the cloud provider on stand 5.C90. This will include a Chalk Talk demonstration of the platform by Mux’s Levi Miller on Sunday 17 September.

Mux’s engineering manager Sarah Brown will also be presenting a session titled Actionable insights with industry-leading speed and scale on IBC's Content Everywhere stage (Stage 1, Stand 5.A28) on Friday and Saturday, 15-16 September at 5pm CEST. In this session, Sarah will be demonstrating the Mux Data platform and how with just a few lines of code, users can leverage the world’s most scalable video data to monitor video performance and quickly pinpoint any QoE issues in order to take action.

And if that all gets you a little warm, you can cool off with a scoop and a cone when Mux hosts an ice cream social on its stand between 1-4pm CEST on Saturday 16 September, which is open to all show visitors. The stand will also be home to two happy hours jointly hosted with Mux partners Evergent and Fastly, taking place on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September, respectively between 4-6pm CEST. Mux will be exhibiting on stand 5.H48 at IBC2023 from 15-18 September 2023. The show takes place at RAI Amsterdam. To find out more go to www.mux.com.

Disguise and Cuebric Launch AI-Driven Content Generator for Virtual Production

Disguise  — a world leader in virtual production technology used for  Top Gun: Maverick ,  The Joker  and more — has partnered with AI platform  Cuebric  to make virtual environments faster, easier and more cost-effective to build than ever before.  As part of the partnership, Cuebric has been integrated with the Disguise platform. This means creatives can now use AI to create the shape and depth of 2.5D environments, then import them into Disguise. The result is a plug-and-play scene that can be executed on an LED stage in only two minutes. This allows anyone to tell immersive stories, no matter the production environment or virtual art capabilities they have, saving weeks of pre-production work. “Real-time environments look spectacular on-camera, yet often require many hours of artistic and technical build,” said Addy Ghani, VP of Virtual Production at Disguise. “Thanks to our partnership with Cuebric, there’s now another option. Using generative AI,...

8th Annual Digital TV Central and Eastern Europe Event

I attended to IP & TV World Forum and TV Connect events in Istanbul, which of both was organized by Informa. Having attended to these events, I am glad to say that I will have chance to follow the Digital TV Central & Eastern Europe Event on 25-27 June at Krakow, Poland.  Actually I have to thank to Informa, for their support in attending the event.  Main topics that will be covered in the event are OTT (Over The Top) TV and Pay TV. There will be a one day event dedicated to Over The Top Television. I will try to attend this event also, which will be on 25 June. In fact I think that OTT will replace classic IPTV offers, with the increase in smart tv, connected tv sales figures, need for a set top box will diminish. Therefore, this one day event is really important for the sector professionals.  When we look at the speakers of the event, one can easily understand the importance of the event. Some of the speakers are: Ian McDonough, Senior Vice Pres...

Shall we not build DTT, after WRC 2015

According to the news in the web site of EBU, 470 - 694 MHz will be reserved for DTT & radio microphones not only till WRC 2019, but also till WRC 2023. At the WRC 2023, 470 - 960 MHz band will be reconsidered. It is good news for the DTT business in Europe. But is it a good news for Turkey? As you may well know, Turkey has not yet spend any money on DTT. There is no DTT network, nor a finished frequency allocation tender. Hence, we can say that there is nothing, just NOTHING regarding DTT.  So, in best circumstances, the tender for DTT frequencies can be finished by 2016 & the network would be ready by 2017. Well, the picture becomes interesting from that point. The frequency allocation would be for 10 years, which covers 2016-2026. But, during the WRC 2023, the frequency usage will be reconsidered again. It may be more meaningful to think not to build DTT at all, and start thinking to work on xG mobile networks. I would appreciate for your comment...
